<VV> 1962 rampie

Hi,
I have a 62 corvair pickup that has fumes coming thru the heat duct under the front seat. No smoke but noxious just the same. Any ideas on where to get that cover to shut it off, like for the Greenbrier van? The corvair parts place in Shelbourne, Mass is out of stock and has no leads. Also what could I try to fix the fumes? Could it be an exhaust pipe leak? The truck runs quietly, purrs like a kitten.
