<VV> Easterners Buying Western Cars

As somebody who ships a lot of cars, I have to agree with the point made
that shipping a non-runner (and even worse, a non-stopper... they like cars
to have brakes) is not easy.
But I also need to mention that you should be wary of shipping brokers...
for several reasons.
One is that the trucks are not always made to move cars on, so the
loading/unloading can be dangerous (I have had a car damaged with a broker
using substandard ramps to a trailer not meant to load a car onto) and the
tie-downs often "rigged up".
A second problem is reliability and timing... I've had brokered truckers get
a better deal and simply cancel me, these guys have always been the least
reliable to show up when agreed (often making the remote seller very angry
and wanting additional compensation).
It's also not unusual for a brokered load to "go missing" for some time
while the guy runs a more profitable deal... you're just backfill, so their
lowest priority.
And finally, I had a case where I paid the broker, the trucker had my cars,
the broker refused to pay the trucker, so the trucker refused to
release the cars to me unless I paid him directly. That was the last time I
used a broker...
I agree that private people with private trailers looking for a return load
are the best bet, but that's not all you get on uship.
YMMV
