I unbolted the oil filter/generator mount/fuel pump casting to get the belt past it, there was perhaps 1/4" of room. The trick is now to get it past the rear engine mount. The problem was not the filter, but the casting was too close to the rear frame.
 
I didn't measure the belt. It is the NAPA belt that the NAPA book gave. I assume NAPA knows what they are doing? It is the right length, and looks to be 3/8 to 7/16 wide.
