<VV> Rebuilding LM front end

Others will respond with more ideas, here's mine:

Dropping the crossmember is the best way to rebuild it, with the exception
of the springs. It is easier to get the springs out with the weight of the
car to help. But with a spring compressor (threaded rod and appropriate
clamps) it can be done removed from the car also.

The late (65 to 69) crossmembers are the ones with the lower control arm
mounted with an eccentric bolt. Earlies (60 to 64) use a normal bolt, as
they adjust camber with shims. 1969 crossmembers have a sheet metal shield
welded to the center, if it hasn't rusted off. But they are all
interchangeable.

Before you remove it, check the joints for play. This is also easier to do
in the car. See shop manual for tips on checking play. I would replace just
what is bad, as depending on your use, another joint may never fail.

I would replace the sway bar bushings and the center link/drag link bushing
(at the steering arm). I still use nylon in that bushing, although it has
fallen out of favor with some people ( they claim it prevents the wheel
from naturally returning to center after a turn, I've not noticed it).

Subject: <VV> Rebuilding LM front end

Thinking of dropping the entire front cross-member and rebuild it
completely. Has anyone performed this and is there a list of parts I
could look off of and use ? Additionally found a person selling and
entire front end removed from a car, anyway to tell what this came out
of before I purchase it ? Pictures or a website would be great.

Sent from my iPhone... this thing is awesome
