Agreed. But I also like to monitor my charging system. The CHT (accuracy questionable) is more just there "for the ride". I don't believe any gauge will be of much use to prevent destruction of the engine. I know many people have had many engine problems but the one that I find the most troubling are the valve seats coming out of heads (big valves and small).
