<VV> Corvairs with 'Antique' plates

When I lived in Florida we were back in NYS visiting relatives. I got
pulled over by cop because FL was a one plate state and NY is a two plate
state. The cop kept asking where my other plate was and I kept telling him
there was no "other" plate. He finally called in, apparently got his
rear-end chewed and came back to my car and said "Well, I'll let you go this
time". I had forgotten about that incident (more than 45 years ago) until
your post. :)

Front plates ruin the look of a car, and are at best a requisite annoyance,
or at best a "badge of antiquity" if you have an original plate from the
year the car was made ?
When do you need the front plate ? It's the back plate that you see as a
car is driving away after running you over, and in the few seconds before it
hit you, you probably weren't looking at the license plate number (you were
looking at Elvis and a bright light in the distance) !
I've never had a front plate on any car here in California, and have never
been questioned about it in over 15 years.
Name withheld to protect the guilty ...
(If I get stopped tomorrow, I'll know it was you who ratted me out !)
