Carl, I can give at least a partial answer.
On a non-AC '65 (and it might apply to an AC car as well, but I don't know
for certain), there is a "stud" which sticks out of the mount for the
spare - pointed more or less toward the left side of the car. It is nearly
horizontal and below where the tire mounts. I believe that it takes a wing
nut to hold the jack in place.
