Jim, if the coil overheats it will cause a similar problem and when it cools
down, will start right up. When I first put the Pertronics II in my 62 102
with the high output coil, It ran good for about 250 miles and then it all
of a sudden started to buck, luckily it was a half mile to my house I I just
kinda coasted/idled into the driveway and it died and would not start.
Replaced the coil, that Flame Thrower lasted fewer miles, so instead of
getting another flamethorwer, I just went down to Schucks and got a std coil
and its worked for two summers. Mark Durham
PS. I also had problems with the resister wire found in the late 62's abnd
63, sit started to smke and burn the insulation, so I cut it out and rewired
for 12 volts when I bought the std coil.
