The following information is both correct and misleading. One needs to
understand the underlying specs.....

PASTE:
Do your motor oils contain zinc and phosphorous?

Yes. All Royal Purple engine oils contain the zinc/phosphorous compound
zinc
dialkyl dithiophosphate (ZDDP) and are suitable for both roller and flat
tappet valve trains.
Well yes, all available modern oils contain zinc and phosphorous. It is
the AMOUNT of these additives that is important. And even though the API
tests "prove" that reduced amounts of these additives are satisfactory for flat
tappet engines, THAT is the bone of contention that concerns us all....DO
THEY???

Can your oil be used with flat tappet cams?

Yes. For stock or mildly modified flat tappet valve trains (<.525” lift),
we
recommend our SAE 10W40, 15W40 or 20W50 engine oils.

Note that they are recommending oils that DO NOT HAVE TO MEET THE REDUCED
AMOUNTS of additives. So on one hand they say reduced amounts are OK, but
on the other hand they recommend oils with a higher amount of additives.

Lots of double talk here IMO.
