<VV> DISTRIB FAILURE

I believe the weights were installed correctly. The advance mechanism had been working just fine for a year and a half before the catastrophic failure. If I recall correctly, if the weights are in upside down they will give mechanical retard rather than advance.

I am going to install a rebuilt distributor. I'm going to salvage the vacuum/pressure pot and the points / rotor / condenser / dust cover and points plate, but the rest is too trashed to reuse (or return for a core).

i can not see much in the pictures.
what i wonder is if the weights were installed upside down?  get the  tech
guide out and look at the pictures of weights and springs for  distributors.
turbo stuff stands out in a crowd.  anyhow you need to  carefully check
every part out , or better yet look for a complete unit or  rebuild.
last turbo car i did had 140 stuff in a turbo housing , and lucky he did
not go far enough in advance to do a lot of damage (only head gaskets this
time  ) .
