Selection of wheels is more than just 'bolt to the hub' so I would recommend neither the Datsun nor the Toyota wheel for use on a Corvair. Weighing them on a scale there is a noticeable lightness to the Japanese rims ... they are designed for use on a vehicle with a curb weight of 500 to 800 pounds less than a Corvair. Driven in a respectable manner they would probably work without incident. But in an emergency situation [right when one really does not need another problem] one could experience failure in the form of the center section tearing out of the rim. This risk becomes even more apparent when one realizes this was a somewhat common failure on the original vehicles.

Short answer:
The earlies use the 4 on a 4.5" bolt pattern, *not* the late model 5 on 4 3/4"
Chevy RWD pattern. Datsun and Toyota RWD cars from the 70's and 80's use this same
pattern. The Datsun Z 14"x6" wheels will work, but they are a little outboard
of ideal. Toyota AE86 Corolla wheels are better. Do not modify the car to use 5 lug
Chevy wheels unless you are *very* certain that's your best option (it usually isn't).
