Hank I think you're a little off center.  Corvair may have been a full line, but I don't think it was a separate line.  If it was it wouldn't have had the bowtie at all, or the crossed flags.

 

As for print ads listing Chevrolet and Corvair separately, all full size Chevrolets, up until at least the 80s, were only referred to as "Chevrolet" in ads, regardless of whether it was a Caprice, Impala, Bel Air, etc.  Now if it were an ad for the specific model, then it had the name.  

 

And as far as "dropping" the name Chevy, there was an internal memo that was poorly worded, wanting to solidify the Chevrolet brand worldwide, and it read to some as trying to eliminate the nickname Chevy.  Not so.

 

It is puzzling why the name Chevrolet only appears on the 60.
