Keep in mind, with all the seals in place, the top of the engine should see only cool air, since that's the side the fan is drawing from. I can't see any advantage to leaving the door open, and one negative is that's a negative pressure area! The side vents aren't.

So, what effect (never though to try it) would leaving the engine access
door open (or removing it) on an FC have - in terms of engine heat? Might
need to find a spot for the license plate.
