Gary,
It might help to try starting the car at night with the headlights on.  
Watch the lights.
If the lights dim considerably or go out it means an electrical problem.  
Another thing....pull the plugs and use the fanbelt to turn the engine over 
(use  your hands on the belt). See how easy the engine is to rotate. Use the 
starter  too for comparison.
