Ray - It isn't difficult - on the lates. But the best way is to have the  
donor 4-speed car sitting next to the ex-PG car during the changeover. There 
are  a ton of little things that have to be moved over. (Think clutch 
linkage/cabling  and all the shifter stuff.) If you have the donor car there, you 
will have fewer  of the Homer Simpson DOH! moments. For the best complete 
conversion, you should  buy some new parts ahead. Have the shifter all set - 
with new front and rear  tube bushings and a coupler in good shape. Check the 
condition of the  clutch cable. Check especially the tip that is pulled by 
the clutch  arm. You will have to pull the front rug, both to access the 
location for  the clutch cable/pulleys and to add a hole for the shifter. The 
pedal assembly  will be changed out - In theory, you could swap only what you 
need, but removal  of the assembly is easier. If you elect not to change 
out the dash wiring - a  real pain - you will have to compensate/jumper for 
the neutral safety  switch or the car won't start! A friend and I parked two 
cars next to each other  in a wide driveway and - over a weekend - turned one 
PG car into a  Stick, and the other Stick car into a PG. A pretty rare car, 
a Corsa  Convertible with a PG. This was more than 30 years ago - so no 
complaints,  folks!
