Yesterday I was cranking the 63' trying to get fuel drawn through the lines and
get her started... suddenly I had no power whatsoever.. no dome light..
nothing. No sign of a short... when I connect the battery terminals there is no
spark etc. (yes the battery is ok).

Not a"short"... you have an "OPEN CIRCUIT" Most likely the main harness connector in the engine compartment.

Subject: <VV> electrical questions

Hey folks,

Yesterday I was cranking the 63' trying to get fuel drawn through the lines and
get her started... suddenly I had no power whatsoever.. no dome light..
nothing. No sign of a short... when I connect the battery terminals there is no
spark etc. (yes the battery is ok).

Also while on that topic, the two leads that connect to the generator... which
goes to which post? What happens if they are hooked up backwards? Could this
cause the above symptom? I'm pretty certain they are hooked up the way they
came off, but don't have a manual yet for the early car.

Thanks for any help you can give!
