It is kind of important to not overload the drive belt with too much generator load. The result can be to slow down the cooling fan under heavy load ... something which no Corvair engine really needs. One cannot see it happening nor, in most cases, hear it happening either. There were perhaps tens of thousands of Cadillac HT4100 engines burned to the ground because the generator slowed down the water pump due to load exceeding belt design.
If I felt the need for anything over the factory load I would fabricate a bracket to drive the generator directly off the crankshaft and get the original belt out of the generating system.

Is there a 100 amp alternator upgrade, similar to the 63 amp one described
in the Tech Guide?

If so, what alternator (make. model., year) do I need to ask for at the
local FLAPS?
