<VV> recoloring faded seats? advice needed

Some of you might remember a few weeks back I asked about the discoloration on the red seats for my 63' coupe.

I discovered that the discoloration was not something that could be cleaned off... but the seats were in excellent shape and still supple.  In the end I decided to re-color the seats red using a spray "vinyl paint" available at my flaps.  

I followed the instructions carefully... and applied about $75.00 worth of this stuff to my seats and door panels.  As I feared the stuff has already started to gradually "wear off" where you get into and out of the car... and it's not even on the road yet =(.  

I really cant stand the thought of paying for new upholstery when the seat covers I have are flawless except for nasty discoloration...  can anyone offer a cost effective solution?
