I am lucky -- my wife shares the hobby with me. She works on them,
gets greasy, hands me tools, so forth. Sometimes I'll come home from
work and find her puttering about on one restoration or the other,
all by herself. She even took it upon herself to have Jeff Williams
(California Corvair Parts) restore my coupe which was rotting in the yard ...
We once (30 years ago) restored a 67 Fiat 850 Spyder. We did all the
work ourselves including paint. It was beautiful (fly yellow). We
(my fault being impatient) did not do one thing ... replace the gas
tank. I went for one of those sealant products. It never worked and
no matter how many fuel filters I put on it, every couple of hundred
miles it would get dirt in the carbs. This was complicated dual
Weber setup (yeah, high performance 850cc engine!). One day I came
home from work and my wife lit in to me about the Fiat (she was
driving it that day). It had died in the middle of the main street
in town. So I groaned inwardly wondering how I could get a tow truck
that late at night, was it safe, etc. So I asked with trepidation,
what did she do?
Answer ... she coasted off the road. Then she took the tool box I
always keep in the trunk, and removed all the jets (idle and main)
for both carbs. She took them over to a nearby gas station and blew
them out with the air hose, and then re-assembled the
carbs. Yikes! I asked her if it still ran :-) It was in the
garage. I asked how she managed to get those complicated Webers all
adjusted on the street ... she said she counted the number of turns
on each jet, idle screw, etc. when she removed them. Just like I
taught her (screw them all the way in first, then count out ... as
counting going in is an in-exact method). And the car ran perfectly,
I never had to change a thing.
So that's my girl! One of the reasons I kept her.
Merry Christmas from:

setup for an early. It came with my sedan. It simply replaces the
connector between the carbs with a large oil bath pre cleaner. It
even has the original stickers (a bit faded). I don't use it any
more because it does not work with my Judson. Someone wants to buy
it from me. Does anyone have any idea what price I should
ask? Actually, he also wants the perfect complete fresh air heater
which I took out when I put in the gas heater ... any idea what that
is worth? Thanks!

I have a baffling problem with the Temp/Pressure light on the dash of my 65 Corsa convertible. It does not come on when I turn on the ignition. With the ignition on I get power to the back of the socket on the BLK/RED wire. There is no power at the back of the socket on the other-light blue-wire. The bulb is good. Any help?

Those lights are turned on by a Ground! Go to your engine compartment and find your oil pressure SWITCH... that Wire should also go to another connector that splits off to the Cylinder head Overtemp Switch.
The oil pressure switch should not see any oil pressure at this time... so it should ground it's wire.. The head temp is OPEN until the Cyl. hd. Temp hits 525f or so.. so it cannot make a ground.
Ground the wire at the OP Switch and see if the light illuminates...... if so... bat switch!
Here's where the wiring diagram comes into play...
IF your CORSA has the BUZZER... then the wiring becomes more complex up under the dash.

A friend in Palm Springs saw this on Craigslist and passed it on to me. I
know nothing about the car. BTW, the seller says he doesn't want to deal
with anyone outside of CA. Whatever.

This Craigslist ad brings up a perplexing question: The seller states
"non-original miles." I have long wondered, what are original miles?
Are they different from replacement miles? Aftermarket miles? So, now,
here we have a fellow with "non-original miles." I wonder what makes
them non-original? Got them from another car?

Yowsa! Where do they hide women like that? My mom was a bit like that, but
instead of playing with dolls at 9 she was with Granddad under the hood of
the DeSoto learning how to tune it up. She's dressed down a couple car
mechanics over the years that saw a woman in a headscarf and a cloth coat
and thought '$cha-ching$' only to find out she knew more about cars than Dad
did and a lot of newer mechanics. . . .
She was also pretty good at roughing it. My sister, OTOH, thinks roughing
it is a hotel without room service. . .

We used to enjoy roughing it -- camping out, heavy duty 4x4, all that
stuff. Then we got old. A nice soft bed is nice :-) E
