Reading Hank's latest post re: his body working skills 
reminds me the "other" Fitch Sprint that I "had" to take 
to get to the white '66 that CPF now owns. The package 
deal included a maroon 1965 Corsa coupe that was slated to 
be the "Works" race car. Seems that somewhere along the 
way the passenger's rear quarter panel was flattened and 
then re-shaped. The word "creative" comes to mind. Since 
my plan was to restore this car first and then sell it to 
finance the white car's resto the wavy quarter needed to 
be fixed. My solution was simple. I ordered a new quarter 
panel from Chevrolet! Cost me $107 as I recall. You can't 
even call it N.O.S. It was just in-stock at the warehouse. 
This was around 1979 or so. A buddy from work who was the 
Fisher Body Field Rep came over to the house during the 
Christmas break and in less than one afternoon had the old 
panel cut off - the new one brazed in - and the "C" pillar 
seems filled with lead. Just like they did at the factory? 
This guy was an artist! The rest of my bodywork wasn't 
anywhere near as good as his panel replacement.

Once finished and painted two tone maroon and black I sold 
that car complete with Ventop and a set of real live Hands 
wheels to club member John Hawley for something like 
$1900. Looks like a bad move now, but at the time I needed 
the $$$ to get John Fitch's 1966 Sprint demo spiffed up.

So Hank, keep blocking away!
