Also, the lower arm is different because of the shock absorber mount. The
early arm has bottom holes for the two bolts. The late arm has two opposing
holes for one lower shock mount bolt.

Bryan Blackwell posted that 1965-69 suspensions are wider due to longer
control arms. Balderdash!
The GM parts book says all cars from 1960-69 use the same part number
for the upper control arm.
The lowers are different due to sway bar mounts but they are the same
length also.
The difference in widths is from the wider brakes and drums on a 1965
and later.
