a lot of "factory A/C " units back in the 60's arrived at the dealers in a
box to be installed AT THE DEALERS. so , hole saws , chassis punches , etc
were used to run those hoses and wires. other methods i have heard ( but i
am not an expert on the truth) are a place up the road from the plants that
installed such accessories before car was shipped to dealer. i heard this
from the son of the owner of our local Chevy dealer back then. he was the
service mgr in later 60's and 70's there also. i know gas heaters , radios ,
cruise controls ,bumper guards , carpets , and a host of other things were
shipped to the parts depts. i bought leftover radios etc for next to
nothing back then after the model year was over. this is where a lot of the
NOS stuff came from you see at flea mkts now.
PS: i am looking for a usable set of early coupe vent shades ? email price
and condition please.
regards, tim colson
