<VV> Ignition tester

   Found an "Ignition Tester" at a fleamarket sometime ago but, never tried to use it till yesterday. It has 2 wires, one with a terminal like an spark plug tip and the other one with a clamp (see attached picture). Having no instructions, I connected first wire to an spark plug wire and, the second to ground. Started engine and it showed 8 KVolts at idle with an increase up to 12 KVolts at revving engine. Showed the same at all 6 wires. Ignition system is a Pertronix I with matched coil and Seth's wires.

   Concerns: Did I use it the right way ?, Are those voltages right ?
