Catching up on my TV watching this morning; viewed a VCR tape made a couple of weeks ago.
New engineering thinking added to the newest Acura. This vehicle has been designed to collapse in some areas and stay rigid in others. The demonstration in high speed slow motion shows the front section of the body frame crushing and the passenger section staying rigid. That is new thinking from Japan ... Those of us that have been involved in testing have seen it the other way around for years :-( in Japanese vehicles.
Of course that is not so new an idea at General Motors ... Fisher Body provided that passenger protection thinking in Corvair :-) ... and long before government regulations became involved!
