I sent these messages to VV before but they were rejected. The problem seems
to be solved, so now everyone can read it...

Hi Chuck,

I am sure it will not work to do a set up with two different carbs, but it
is tempting to look for another 35mm pict 3 Solex. My friend, who helped me
with my car (actually, he did everything as I stood by to make stupid
remarks) has a box full of Solex carbs. Maybe he has what you're looking
for. He helps me with my car for four years now and got caught by the
Corvair virus too so he bought 3 Corvairs himself. He is only 27!

He made an easy set up with cables and some sort of "thingy" to mount them
to, and it works great. I see if I can make some pics to send you. The car
runs smoother and has some more power. If you need jets, you can also use
them from small Honda motorcycles (about 50 cc).

I'll get back to you...

Regards, Arend

Arend,
Thanks very much! Your response is the only one that indicates
positive results can be achieved. However, I've got a bit of a problem
with the two Solex carbs in my possession. One is a 34 PICT 3 with a
35mm throat, and the other is a 30 PICT 2 with a 30 mm throat. From
your response, it sounds as though I would need to get another of the
35mm carbs. There used to be a place near here where you could swap VW
carbs but it's been closed for several years. So - not sure I'll ever
get to try the experiment.
It's very tempting because I know how smoothly and reliably the VWs

always ran on their standard carbs. Also, the two I've got are in
excellent shape with no visible wear.
Just out of curiosity, did you have to engineer an entirely new
linkage between the carbs or were you able to adapt the standard
Corvair crosslink?

Best regards,

Chuck
