<VV> Baseball players and Corvairs

There was one on ebay about a year ago.  I believe it was an early vert claimed 
to have been owned by , I think, Don Mattingly (not sure on spelling).

Okay, trivia buffs, does anyone know of any major league baseball 
players who owned a Corvair?  I am thinking in particular of players 
during the years of the Corvair's production, but players who owned one 
more recently are acceptable, too.

This is not a quiz, I don't know the answers, I am seeking the answers!
