You definitely should in my humble opinion.  I didn't, and my stud
didn't go all the way in, but it wouldn't come out either.  It's
holding fine, but way more threads showing on top.  As I understand
it, all head studs have funny threads on the bottom that have a more
interference fit as they go in to the soft aluminum.  In an insert,
they bind before they bottom out.
