Does the head of the adjustment screw prevent turning it all the way out ?

I plan to turn the locknut CCW all the way to break it free (it's not very
tight, but turns with the screw)
I am concerned that the head of the screw will damage the inside surface of
the box ?
Not likely but I figure someone has had one apart would know for sure before
I damage it worse that it may already be ?
The box MAY be fine, but I need to adjust it to find out, and avoid removing
it for a complete inspection or overhaul, if that's not necessary ?
The front end does not appear to have incurred any body damage (to answer
someone's question)

Thanks again for the minute details !
