You could also try my method. I copy & paste the selected area to which I am replying, to a new email. I also copy & paste to the subject line. This way I control what is being sent. 

If I didn't, I too would be one of those sending needless reams of text and boy do I hate that. 

Just look at what you are sending and decide if you like to be treated in this manner. Copy & paste, a simple basis procedure. 

And I am using Comcast's email, by the folks who barely understand the concept of email.
