I have been using a non-affiliated tire shop near me for yrs. Good ole
boy deal. Hard to get anything done, as he has so much business - but cheap.
He has done mount/balance on many Tire Rack purchases for me w/o
complaint. Took my wife's Mercedes "C" in to have some new Tire Rackers put on and
casually mentioned to his flunky that they take 28 front and 32 rear.
Flunky told me that wasn't enough. I said "ok, just put what you want and
I'll adjust when I get home". Good ole buy Mgr. overheard that and went into
a RANT and said "those idiot Germans don't know crap about Florida heat".
(they put 35 psi in everything).
he even said that's ok as he wouldn't be working on that car in the future
(the Mercedes). I went into his office and told him I have been monitoring
pressures for 8 yrs. on that car and know that factory recommended PSI is
correct for even tire wear. He was still frosty.

I also reminded him that every time I have to remove lugs on anything his
guys install I have to use BIG pipe on BIG breaker bar to break the lugs
loose - even though I ALWAYS ask them to please put lugs on so I can get them
off. I have also twisted up a 4-way or 2. Told him that could cost me a
road call fee with a flat - out on the road. His response was "I like to
put 'em on so they won't come off".
Our business dealings are now over.

We had a Mitsubishi Diamante LS. Wife's car. SOHC V6 road burner. The
car was trouble-free so I didn't watch it very closely. One day I noticed
front tires were near bald in their centers, which only had a few thousand
miles on them. A different idiot tire flunky had put....you guessed it, 35
PSI in them. They are too stupid to comprehend that the PSI number on the
tire is the Load Carrying Capacity @ 35 PSI. If you try to get what's
right, they get offended that you are telling them how to do their job. I dread
going to ANY tire shop anymore.

Oh, and I have had 2 different shops work on 2 of my cars recently where
they gave the cars back to me with the problems not cured after me paying
sizeable bills. They always say it's something else or not their fault.
Good shops are hard to find around here.
