Here's my take on it, I know not everyone can do everything on their vehicles. When "I" restored mine I new that I could not do the body and paint work, I did the interior work (except the headliner)
and removed all the trim work and reinstalled it after painting. The engine needed very little but I did carbs, belts, points and plugs etc.lclc took care of what I couldn't do. I may not have done it completely by myself, but I restored it.

That one is sort of funny to me.
I once took a Vair for 4 wheel alignment to Firestone. Had made sure
verything turned as it should before hand. They agreed to do the work, but
ot at the flat rate, they would charge for the time required instead. I
ad all the specs with me and "oversaw" the work. I ended up paying (don't
ecall for certain $10 - maybe $15) LESS than their standard "book" rate.
rinned all the way home.
So, while I did not personally align the car, I came away from the
xperience with a satisfaction similar to DIY.

will be charged, because they will not charge less (especially if you've
already agreed to pay more)
So, DIY is so much more satisfying on $o-o-o-o many levels !
