sigh... I think nowadays I would mandate a Garmin ( etc ) co-ordinate 
locator with it's own batteries, or a gadget incorporating same.   If your 
vair detonates along a dark road, you might not know where to tell the voice 
on a cell phone just where you are, especially after 14 hours on the
