Matt's diagram is slightly harder to follow than the 62/63 shop manual
supplement, but it is correct. The resistance wire is between a pin in
the main harness to engine harness connector near the firewall and the
starter solenoid connector. This is the two pin connector also near the
firewall. If this resistance wire is disconnected, then only +12 V will
appear at the yellow coil wire when cranking.
You earlier mentioned the car going dead, so I would check the pins in
the main harness connector, as a bad connection here will prevent the
resistance wire from getting current. This wire is called White Orange
Purple in both diagrams, and is one of the corner pins in the connector.
Opposite end from the 10 gage red wire (large one).
With an ohm meter, you should read 1.8 ohms between the main harness
connector and the yellow wire on the coil.
