<VV> Weird lighting incident

I was driving my 1961 Rampie last night.  It was dark so the headlights are
on.  As I got closer to my house, I hit the floor button to turn the high
beams on.  We have a lot of deer, so I wanted the neighborhood lit up.
Instead of the high beams coming on, the headlights went off.  I thought I
blew a fuse.  I clicked on the button a bunch more times, but neither the
high beams nor the low beams came on.

 

Thankfully, I got home safely.  Today, I went out to change the fuse that I
was sure had blown last night.  To my surprise, the fuse is fine.  And now,
the headlights come on just fine, and I can click back and forth between
high and low beams.

 

I'm assuming this is the truck trying to tell me that the floor switch is
going bad.  But, before I order another one, I wanted to hear if you all
agree with that or if there is something else I should be checking for.
