<VV> Headliner instalation

My wife and I are installing a new Clarks headliner in our Monza Coupe. The listings on the new headliner are about 1 inch, (instructions say its for ease of bow instalation). I see that the original headliner has about 1/2 inch listing measurment. Is the longer listing measurment going to make the headliner hang lower? I am thinking that after putting in the bows into the new headliner that if Beth hand stitched the bow distance to the original measurment that the headliner would hang more properly. Am I over thinking this project? Any comments appriciated.
