<VV> heater cables again

i have found most problems with heater cable binding is at the rear of the  
car, the last foot or so , plus the flap in the box working too hard from 
loose  junk in the heater box. i would carefully remove the retainer and see 
how much  effort it takes to move the levers. on a late , the defrost is a 
short one under  the dash?
most of my problems were with early cars  with 2 cables on the  floor 
defrost flaps.
