If you are getting the same complaints every year would it not make sense to
correct these problems and not make the same mistakes each year ?
Does CORSA not give each club or group that is planning the next convention
a list of `DOs' and `DON`Ts' so they will have a guideline to avoid problems
from the past ?
This year all group meetings are bunched up on Tuesday evening, three are at
the same time: V-8 Registry, Stock Corvair and Corvanatics groups ! Some of
these could have been on Wednesday. National Conventions only happen once a
year surely we have time for everything once a year ! With all of the work
that goes into putting on one of these Conventions let`s take it all in !
Here is a suggestion for one of the DON`Ts on that list: DON`T SCHEDULE
ANY GROUP MEETINGS AT THE SAME TIME, PERIOD !

Sadly, CORSA has a long history of post Convention complaints. We read
about them every year. Seldom do those complaints revolve around new things
added. We hear the same things year after year ... Complaints mostly have a
tendency to be about events that did NOT happen followed by complaints of
scheduling. I am sure every sponsoring club makes their very best efforts
for the convention BUT, there is very little experience passed on from club
to club. So, the fact remains under the current method each convention is
a REINVENTION of the wheel. That is an unnecessary, big job which must be
tackled by a group with little or no previous experience. So what do they
get for their efforts? Complaints. I am involved with many different
organizations so I know it is true that EVERY convention gets some
complaints. The difference is most of those complaints revolve around
personal problems and are unique to the individual posting the complaint.
I do agree with Bob when he said 'each convention should strive to be
distinctive' but, leaving out some elements and conflicting schedules of the
remaining does not seem like the best way to achieve that end. Each area of
the country has its own uniqueness. Not having to develop a new schedule
for each convention would allow the host club far more time to concentrate
on presentation of features in their area.

Harry's comment illustrates the point. Through the years, we have
added events, such that the convention schedules have grown and grown
and grown to the point that they no longer comfortably fit into the
available days and hours.
The solution, I think, is to go back to the CORSA by-laws, which
mandate only a small number of things for the convention. The
concours is a requirement, as is the general membership meeting, as
is an unspecified competitive moving event, as are a few
generally-described thing such as vendors and tech sessions. Nothing
says that we have to try to do EVERYTHING at EVERY convention. Mix
it up. Don't try to do it all, all over again, every year.
