If fewer participants enter the event (no matter what event), then we
diminish the benefit of those who want to view the event. Having 30 cars
on the Concours field is not better than having 60. Having 5 Cole
competitors is not better than having 15.
This discussion was started by a couple of CORSA members who wanted us
[convention planning] to accommodate their needs. And that is what we
try to do for everyone: those who want to attend meetings as well as
those who want to participate in competitive events.
If there was a compelling reason to schedule the Concours at some time
other than the first event, then I am sure we would try to do it. But we
have not seen a reason to do so, and without a compelling reason, I
suspect it will remain the first competitive event for the reasons I
have already stated.
