<VV> Oil pickup magnets

The old Porsche 356 does use a factory original magnet in the pickup 
tube screen assembly, and I'd like to think that even in the late 
fifties Porsche had well educated engineers on the staff -- but, on the 
other hand, they do not have full flow oil filters as original 
equipment, like the Corvair -- they have a by-pass filter system like on 
an old flattie motor or tractor.  VW Bugs didn't have either a filter or 
a magnet.
