I recently picked up a Garmin 340 series new (Ebay) for $99. This is the larger size unit (think "CRT" vice "flat screen") but does have the SD slot to run other country maps.

The Garmin 2xx Nuvi series I picked up in the UK has no such expansion slot BUT did have that speed watning/display (which apparently the US version now has as well as I was advised in a private message. It was 99 quid (about $160 or so USD).

I would not pay more for the thinner unit alone but I would definitely pay more for the speed limit advisement...

I have been very happy with Garmin and the units have held up to extensive travel and use very well.
