Try some of your other hobbies if you think the Corvair hobby is expensive. Ever play golf, fish or other car club events. I don't mean the occasional golfer or fishing down at the river, but the serious golfer will pay big bucks to golf even once a week, or get a decent boat to fish with, you will probably pay more for a fishing license in some states than it costs to auto cross. Wow, missed a couple days checking VV and had almost 300 postings. Don't have time to read them all. Ken Clark

Things just cost what they cost. SCCA memberships are around $80, on
the average everybody--members and non members- pay the same over the
season. .
Insurance is THE big cost. No way to avoid it. You can't use other's
property unless properly insured.
The Mitty entry was $500. You simply had to decide to go or not. It
just cost what it cost. I decided, it was worth the cost.
Another example is food cost for banquets. it isn't the food cost,
it's the hall rental and the chance to be with and honor your friends.
The car hobby is EXPENSIVE, but you can't argue it down. It just
cost what it costs.

SCCA is Sponsoring an autocross on Sunday Sept. 20th

Smitty Says; Boy you can tell these folks don't give a damn if they
get new members or not. If you want to play with us, Bring money.
Almost the cost of a years CORSA membership for three laps of an
autocross track.

What do feel a fair price should be? They just might have to pay for
radios, fire extinguishers, timing equipment, transporting the timing
trailer to different tracks, insurance, paperwork, orange cones and
probably a lot of other items that I'm not aware of.

Anything that involves cars is expensive.
