Hmm..just looking. membership in SCCA is $65 a year, which in most cases INCLUDES membership in your local region.   And there's quite a list of places where you get discounts by being a member, several places where I go anyway, so it'd be a wash if I joined, and it's not strictly places where I'd be buying SCCA car related items.  E.g. some vendors give a discount to CORSA mambers, which is fine if your car needs stuff that you have to order out for a lot rather than getting at your FLAPS.  It it had hotel, general auto  parts, car rentals, etc.. etc.. etc.. discounts associated with it it would make a more convincing pitch, also.
