Why all the chat about the differential? He just wanted to change the
tranny, 3 speed for 4, right? Did he say change the diff & trans?
Don't recall it. Of course don't recall that he said that he wasn't,
either; nor whether it was a 64 diff or not . Oh well, ...

>I have seen earlier diffs installed in '64s, and '64 springs

Bob, why isn't this a good idea? It seems to work just fine, if you do
something about that centering button in the spring -- like a chunk of
quarter inch aluminum plate with a hole in the center. In the physics
of how this spring works, I don't see anything that requires that it's
center position has to be absolutely fixed, and the spring doesn't
really go anywhere. I did this back in the seventies, and I'm doing it
again, now. Oh, I know, GM didn't design it that way -- well, they
didn't design Corvairs for radial tires, gas shocks, viton o-rings,
non-asbestos - non-metallic brakes, nor a bunch of other stuff that we
just sort of take for granted these days, either. Yes it would earn
deductions on the concours field, but they drive just fine, Thank you!
And, it saves 64 diffs for guys that need them for concours ...

Maybe you've got a stash of 64 diffy cases for sale?
