Of course, you've never heard of it. Only a few Corvair expert  
historians knew about it and they weren't talking, they were looking  
for it, hoping to be the one to re-discover the long, lost 1965 Shelby  
Corvair!

Now, for the first time the truth can be told. Shelby built 20  
specially modified 1965 Corvairs hoping to get them homoligated and  
sell them as specials. Unfortunately, about the time he was ready to  
introduce the car to the world, Ford came along and bought up all of  
the Shelby Corvairs. Then, they paid Shelby tons of money to develop a  
Shelby Mustang and the rest is history.

What happened to the 20 Corvairs? Same thing that happened to #6,000.  
But wait...

ONE SURVIVED!!!

Found recently in Mexico, here is the Shelby Corvair!!!
