Ned, You're right!
Every electronic component is built with a little smoke in them. That's what
makes them work. If you let the smoke out, they usually don't work any more.

Absolutely right!  One of those little "secrets" that you learn in
Electrical Engineering 101...also known as the "Modified Phlogiston
Theory"...and here ya'll thought that Lavoisier got rid of it!
