Yeah, I saw it. Looks like someone bought a Fitch roof and bolted it on.
WARNING: I would be very wary of ANYTHING sold out of Miami..... :-)

A buyer that's trying to "be aware" should use a device called a "Spot
Rot" which is a calibrated magnetic probe with a scale that will tell you
about how much non-magnetic material is between the probe and the car's metal.
So you know whether it's just stock paint or a multiple layer paint job or
loads of bondo. I think Eastwood is selling them or you can always try
Google.
For SOME reason it doesn't seem to work on my Pontiac Minivan.<GGGG>

The knuckelhead was the guy who wanted to fill in the large hole after the

probably done when the car had little value (just a used car),
so buyer beware of any vehicle!

Or you can just take a memo magnet off the refrigerator. Fridge
magnets are not very strong and will lose grip on a car's surface if
even a skim of filler is under the paint.
I think that using the local insurance agency/roofing
contractor/pizza joint advertising magnet, instead of buying a "Spot
Rot," is in keeping with the, um, frugal nature of Corvair owners.

Hank,
I think you are jumping the gun.
I had suggested Charlie in Maiden, NC as a possible drop off point for
someone to take it to the next step. I didn't mean to imply that Charlie was
going to move the car.
Has anyone talked to Charlie?

Hi,
I just got this nice reply from Marshall Buck who's making the new Phoenix
model. Rick Thompson may have posted this info already but I want to make
sure everyone is aware of how to order it and that time will run out soon.
I put in my order...this should be a very significant collectible!Dave

Hi Dave,
Thank you very much for your interest, order and positive feedback. Any
help to promote this edition would be great. Only models bearing serial
number 1 - 150 will be autographed. If any beyond that are made they will be
built to the same level, but without the autograph and with a different
certificate.
Sounds like you have a very interesting collection; and I'm sure it's very
comprehensive. Lucky you to have gotten a ride in the Phoenix with John
as your pilot! I've seen the car many times in person and yes, am aware of
the color. John is supposed to be giving me a little touch up paint to
use to match to.
Please note that we'll only be accepting orders for a short time. The
edition will be extremely limited. We will be closing the order book on these
by the end of this month, or at latest 1st week of December. Estimated
price of $229. each plus shipping for the autographed models. We're expecting
these models to be produced within the first quarter of 2010. To place
and secure a firm order, we need the following:
Shipping AddressBilling Address (if different)Credit Card ( Visa,
MasterCard or American Express)Credit card NumberName on CardExpiration
DateSecurity CodeDaytime phone number
Your credit card will not be charged until the model is ready for shipping.
Would you like to be added to our e-mail Newsletter & Updates list that is
e-mailed approximately once a month to update you on current and upcoming
projects, and various models? Please feel free to contact me with any
questions. Best regards,
Marshall

I actually owned a '74 Gremlin X with the Levi Edition. It had the 304

No doubt it was that cool Levi Strauss designer interior that struck fear
into them!

Hi,
Sorry I forgot to put a subject line in my VV post...I guess I was excited
about spreading the word about Creative Miniature Associates' upcoming
1/43 scale Fitch Phoenix model. There's never been a model of the Phoenix made
before, and the first 150 will be signed by John Fitch and come with a
display case. There may not be more than 150 made, though. CMA is a high end,
exacting model making company which usually limits their runs to only 50
cars.
Check out their website www.cmamodels.com I think you'll enjoy seeing the
high level of detail and accuracy they're known for. Ordering information
for the Phoenix is in the thread below.
If there's enough interest in the Phoenix model, Marshall might be
impressed with the Corvair market. Wouldn't a model of the Pininfarina Corvair
Coupe be incredible?
For now, we're very lucky that he's going to do the Phoenix. I hope we can
show him that Corvair model collectors are serious enough to support his
efforts!
