Just got back from the tri state meet in Taos NM. Weather was just about perfect the whole weekend. We left Durango Colorado about 11:00 AM on Friday. Stopped for lunch in Pagosa Springs and as we were leaving the restaurant my wife said "Look. A Corvair". As I looked over 3 other Corvairs appeared and they were the Utah club on their way to Taos as well. So we joined the caravan (6 Corvairs all together, 1 early convert., 3 late converts., 1 late 2 door, and my Rampside) driving the last 150 miles together through the beautiful San Juans on into Taos. One of the Utah cars won the long distance award clocking 695 miles one way. These folks are certainly not afraid to drive their Corvairs long distance. Saturday AM we (I think the final count was 43 Corvairs) left the hotel for a police escorted tour around Taos being told to stay in the group as they escorted us thru stop signs and red lights holding all other traffic away. I think they had the whole police department out for this one. Then it was the car show, some free time touring Taos, the banquet dinner, and then on Sunday AM it was all over. Certainly was fun seeing all the cars (I only counted 1 trailor) motoring around that weekend and even nicer seeing the great folks again. People came from Calif., Utah, Arizona, CO, NM, and Oklahoma. Corvairs New Mexico did a great job with this one and they announced that next year it will be held at Canyon City CO. I am certainly making plans for it already. Now if I can only find the courage to drive to Jacksonville (I will), possibly Witchita Kansas, and for sure Palm Springs. That is what we did this weekend in Taos. A very worthwhile event indeed.

>Just a reminder to all out there in Virtual Vairland of the Tri State Meet this weekend in Taos New Mexico. Hoping to see all of you out there. Forecast is for a beautiful weekend with a possibility of some rain/hail/winds but nothing out of the ordinary for this time of year.
