Ok, here's my solution, it assumes that you have a home supply place
nearby. I haven't actually done this, but I think it would work ok,
if you try it please let us know if it worked out ok.
Parts:
4 foot length of aluminum house gutter
4 foot long 2x8
4 3/8x3" lag bolts
2 muffler clamps
4 3/8x2.5" bolt, nuts, and washers
4 4" hose clamps
Drill four holes in the center of the 2x8 to match the pattern on the
bottom of the diff. Drive two lag bolts side by side into the middle
of each end of the 2x8, about 1" apart so about 1" is sticking out.
Bolt the 2x8 onto the lower control arm brackets, then use the
muffler clamps to clamp the arms to the lag bolts on the ends of the
boards. You now have a solid lower link.
Put the halfshafts back on the hubs. Slide two hose clamps onto each
shaft, toward the hub end. Put the gutter under the halfshafts and
bend it around one shaft. Slide the two hose clamps over the gutter,
one near the end of the shaft and one near the end of the gutter, and
tighten. Repeat for the other halfshaft. You now have a solid axle.
I think this will be sufficient for moving the car around.
