  LBJ's long-eared beagles graced the cover of Life magazine. A massive earthquake 
  rocked Alaska. Frankie Avalon and Annette Funicello seemed to be on every beach 
  at once. 

  GM was advertising the new Pontiac Tempest GTO while still making Ralph Nader's 
  favorite Corvair with push button gears !
