i prefer a more non violent method of stuck wheel removal, prying between  
the drum and the wheel. it may take a couple different positions , but it  
usually works fine. in fact i had 4 stuck by some sort of strong paint on a 64  
last night. someone put wheels on wet painted hubs or some such madness.   they 
were really on there.
beating on the outside wheel can/ will  distort the wheel easier than  you 
might think.
